Australian Government Buys Growler EW System for $1.5 Billion

The Australian Government had announced it recently acquired the Growler electronic warfare system for the Super Hornet at $1.5 billion dollars.

Growler will provide options for the Air Force to undertake electronic threat suppression operations in support of Australian Defence Force operations, including land and sea forces. It currently has 24 F/A-18F Super Hornets.

Australia will join the United States as one of the only countries in the world operating Growler aircraft—an electronic warfare system that gives the Super Hornet the ability to jam the electronics systems of aircraft and land-based radars and communications systems. The purchase of this equipment was made through the United States Foreign Military Sales process.
