U.S. Air Force Announces Adaptive Spectrum Warfare Technology Development Program

A new adaptive spectrum warfare technology development program next month may benefit soldiers fighting in hostile environments.
U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Sensor's Directorate officials from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio released a presolicitation for the Advanced Novel Spectrum Warfare Environment Research (ANSWER) program, previously known as the Net-Enabled Electronic Warfare Technologies (NEWT) program.
According to the release, the ANSWER program “will research, develop, and transition resilient, adaptive spectrum warfare technologies and techniques to enable mission assured warfighting capabilities in contested and denied environments consistent with A2/AD [anti-access, anti-denial] scenarios.” The program will cover radio frequency spectrum warfare, cyber-resilient avionic systems engineering, position navigation and timing (PNT) in contested/denied environments, and electro-optics countermeasures.
